2012 is an exciting year! The world is celebrating the Olympics, the Queen is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee and St Mary’s Church is celebrating its Bicentenary. All these celebrations come together at Boston Spa because on the 3rd June our two deacons, Andy Grant and Trish Anslow, will be celebrating their priestly ordination at York Minster as the nation celebrates the Queen’s Jubilee. Then on the 19th June the Olympic torch is to pass through the village.
In 2011 St Mary’s joined with two other parishes, All Saint’s Bramham (from which it was originally founded) and St Peters Walton to form a new single parish and together they are the Parish of Lower Wharfe.
St Mary’s is the largest of the five local Anglican churches which work together and is particularly known for the warmth of its welcome. Through its worship and large range of ministries it links with several schools and other institutions. It seeks to be a place where Jesus’ love is shared and His gospel is proclaimed.
Boston Spa is a large Georgian village on the River Wharfe close to the A1(M) immediately south of Wetherby. The weekly newsletter and the monthly magazine are also available on this website.
