Funday Sunday

Please share with others.

I would like to take this opportunity to give a massive thank you to so many people who helped make the Fun Day afternoon such a huge social and financial success.

The weather turned out to be as perfect as we could have imagined when we started planning the event last November.

James Naylor provided a wonderful Hog Roast, and the children tucked into the expertly cooked hot dogs. The cake stall & tombolas were very popular all afternoon, and the ladies manning both the bar & pimms bar were kept busy as the hot day encouraged people to buy cold drinks.

Loud shrieks and laughter echoed across the field from the Big Bouncy Slide and Mini Castle, and the delight of children throwing wet sponges at friends & reluctant dads! Marcus & Gail Nicholls did a fantastic job organising & controlling not only the youngsters but adults in the various races followed by the very popular welly wanging competition. Even the ice-cream man made a very welcome appearance just as the sports finished.

Val Wilby was kept very busy giving relaxing massages to tired feet and hands, whilst in the background Wetherby Silver Band entertained us with a large variety of music followed by Steph Baker ending the afternoon singing and playing on her guitar.

Space doesn’t allow me to name every-one who helped with setting up, manning stalls, baking cakes & buns, donating prizes, and even clearing up afterwards, but you all know who you are, so a huge thank you to you all, and also to every-one who came along to make the day a truly memorable village “Do”.

Finally I have to thank all our sponsors, who without their very kind generosity the huge profit of £4000.00 couldn’t have been achieved, thus benefitting the Cricket Club, St. Peter’s Church & the Village Hall.

Thank you all.
