Holiday Club 2017
During the week, we had great fun finding out about Shipshapes through games, drama, crafts, songs and lots of fun stuff (including custard pies!!)
Holiday Club 2016
Our Mission Rescue Holiday Club took place during the first week of August. With a spy theme this year, we undertook a mission each day, with the Agents (children) and Spy Squad Masters (group leaders and their assistants).
Led from the front by Agent M (Penny Stables), Agent Q (Kate Kennedy), Agent X (Simon Jackson) and Agent Y (George Orton) the children learnt about the story of Moses through Exodus – from being rescued as a baby in the basket, through to leading the Israelites out from slavery in Egypt to freedom. We also learnt about God’s ultimate rescue mission for us all – Jesus.
The story telling was done through drama, action songs, quizzes, messy games and we had a daily craft activity too. This ranged from making Secret Agent door hangers and disguises, to creating a plague of locusts!
Each afternoon, the yellow t-shirted young helpers relaxed and had fun together, with rounders at Stables Lane, a trip to the cinema, an afternoon at Bolton Abbey, and a final camp out at Wike Scout Camp on the Friday night!
The week wouldn’t have been possible without all of the support from the volunteers who helped with groups, scenery, provided lunch each day, wrote and performed the drama, prepared crafts and much more!
For the first time this year, we also nominated a charity for people to support – the MU Away from It All Holiday fund, and we raised £200 for this great cause too.
A big thank you also to members of our congregation across the Benefice who prayed for us each day – this was the calmest and smoothest Holiday Club ever – so your prayers definitely helped! We will be doing it all again next year, so keep your eyes open and your ears peeled agents, for clues for next year!

We went on a Polar Expedition this year
With the help of Expedition Leaders, the children were explorers who went on a mini expedition each day and learnt about a New Testament character. Through the lives of these people, they learnt that no one is too anything to be part of God’s big expedition, that is, to be a friend of Jesus and go out and help other people be friends of Jesus too.
