St Mary’s Mothers’ Union
Mothers’ Union is a worldwide Christian membership organization that demonstrates the Christian faith in action through the transformation of communities. Our four million members work with people of all faiths and none across 83 countries to promote stable marriage, family life and the protection of children through praying, enabling and campaigning. Mothers Union members transform communities, in this country and in developing countries by supporting parenting and family life through;-
Practical support, Raising Funds, Raising Awareness, Prayer, Friendship and support.
The Mothers’ Union at St Mary’s has 33members and we meet once a month (on 3rd Wed) at 9.45am for a prayer group followed by a communion service. We also meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 2pm, when we have a range of speakers or activities. During the year we hold coffee mornings, a tea party etc. to raise funds for our projects overseas and for AFIA (away from it all) the York Diocese caravan at Filey which provides holidays for families who would otherwise not be able to go away. We also run St Mary’s Ark , a group for pre school children and their parents and carers. We start with a play session with activities and refreshments followed by a short service in Church with lots of action songs. We meet at 1.45pm – 3.00pm on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month during term time.
