SERVICES AND EVENTS

Parish of Lower Wharfe: A big thank you to all those who attended the Special Parish Meeting on the 30th January concerning the membership of the PCC. It was decided unanimously that the three former PCCs currently Village Church Councils will together act as the Interim PCC. There will be two meetings of the Interim PCC. I will be grateful if all Village Church Council Members will kindly note both dates. Monday 13th February at 7.30pm at St Mary’s and 15th March at 7.30pm, venue to be decided.

Social Group News: Events have rather overtaken the Social Group. Last Autumn various members had important personal things to sort out, and suddenly it was 2012. What a Year 2012 is going to be even without the Social Group! Boston Spa has a lot going on this year! Simply listing all the events spilled over onto 2 pages in the February magazine, so I’m sure you’ll agree that there is simply no space in our collective diaries for any more events this year. Let’s enjoy our busy year, and if in 2013 people feel they are missing the frenzied activity of 2012, we’ll look at it all again. Thanks for your support,

Appoinment of Pastoral Care Co-ordinator for the Benefice of Bramham: Mrs Cathy Dibben has been appointed to this role. All requests for pastoral care, other than those which, for personal reasons, may be made directly to the clergy including calls from the families of parishioners who are dying, should be directed to Cathy. This will include requests for Holy Communion which she will pass on to Peter Wood, who will continue to co-ordinate the Eucharistic Ministers for the churches in the Parish of Lower Wharfe. Cathy will also keep up to date lists of parishioners who are housebound or sick.

ORDINATIONS:

The Ordinations of Rev Andy Grant and Rev Tricia Anslow to the priesthood will take place at York Minster during the morning of Sunday June 3rd 2012. We are planning to hire coaches to enable as many people as possible to attend. As an indicator of numbers who may require transport, please notify Glenda in the office if you think you may like to travel by coach. This will help with our planning.

Letting Movies Be The Message

Churches Together are delighted to welcome Revd. Stephen Brown to lead the 2012 series of Lectures to be held in St Mary’s Room, St Mary’s Church, Boston Spa at 7.30pm on Tuesdays 28th February, 6th, 13th & 20th March. Everyone is welcome.

Wednesday 28th March at 7.30pm: There will be a Thanksgiving Service to mark the start of the Bicentenary Celebrations for St Mary’s Church. This is the date on which the foundation stone was laid. This will be the first of a number of exciting events planned for 2012.

St Mary’s Choir: If you like singing, you are 7 years old or older and you would like to join the choir then please contact Steve Aston on 01904 625714.

St Mary’s Ark: Come and join us at St Mary’s Ark every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 1.45-3.00pm at St Mary’s Church, Boston Spa. This includes a short service for babies, toddlers, parents and carers. Including refreshments and activities. A warm welcome awaits you from the members of Mothers’ Union.

Lunchtime Concert at Boston Spa Methodist Church. Jazz singer Jaqui Wicks, accompanied by Kevin James will entertain you on Friday 10th February at 1.00pm. Admission £4. Lunches from 12noon.
