May 2007 Up-date
The Full Committee met on the 8th May to review progress, and continue Planning. Liz Etherington, Appeal Chair commented on what a lovely evening the Concert had been, when Tony Poles and his Pupils demonstrated their considerable musical abilities, followed by a recital by Tony and John Townend on two pianos. A Cheque for £180.02 has been presented to the Fund, and some of the Pianists have been signed up for the sponsored Piano-thon later in the year.
Liz felt sure all would agree that the Organ Open Day had been most enjoyable and was a fine example of wonderful teamwork from absolutely everyone. An enormous amount of hard work had been put in, but this had really paid off in the resulting total of £1182.73 !
The Fund now stands at £23,613 – safely in the Bank, and whilst there are rumours of a sum to come from the Inland Revenue, the Committee are really keen to work on realities, not promises and quote only the cash we have, not the cash we MIGHT get !
Work is now being concentrated on the BOUNDARY WALK on 3rd June – you can download a Sponsor Form and Instructions elsewhere on this site – and on the GRAND PRIX SCALEXTRIX EVENING on 7th July. This will be a true Grand Prix event, with Competitive Races and Champagne Prizes just like the real thing !
The Committee are planning ahead for the other events, not least the special “Educate and Inform” days set up in conjunction with Local Schools, when groups of Children will have a tour of the Organ and a fun morning finding out about how it works, and what it’s used for.
We also welcome direct Donations to the Appeal, and can give confidential advice on giving in instalments or in tax effective ways. We’d also welcome offers of help, people keen to work on the Committee, RAFFLE AND TOMBOLA PRIZES or even the chance to tell you more about the Project.
