We have been steadily stitching throughout the past year and since our inauguration
in October 2004 we have produced four beautiful silk Aumbry curtains; re-made and
mounted the Mission banner; repaired the old Mothers Union Banner which we then had
framed and made a Sunday School Banner in collage for which the poles will be purchased
shortly. The Altar Rail kneelers are being made to fit without having to make new
ones. The gold Altar cloth is being altered by Brindleys of Wetherby to fit the new
Altar and we hoping that they will make the two-sided purple Altar cloth into two
Altar Cloths, one for Lent and one for Advent. These Altar cloths are far too big
for us to manage and the trimmings will be made into Lectern falls and any other
pieces which may be needed.
The red and green Altar cloth (seen in the picture) is being re-modelled by the makers,
St Martin Vestment Ltd of Spalding. This is being organised by the generous donors
of the cloth, Chris and Jenny Dunnett, whom many of you will remember. They were
here in 1970s and 1980s and moved to Harrogate at the end of 1980s. They still keep
in touch with St Mary's and have many friends in the Village. Their children designed
the motifs and the cloth is being made into two separate ones by the makers.
My heartfelt thanks go to our Stitching Group members for all the hours spent stitching.
Each one of us has their own special skills - all different! My sincere thanks go
to Fr. Peter for his enthusiasm and encouragement.
We would like to welcome more members so why not think seriously about joining us?
Every stitch is done with love towards God and our beautiful Church.
