8.00am is a traditional, said Prayer Book Service of Holy Communion which moves around our churches.
The 10.ooam Holy Communion is a modern sung Eucharist (Common Worship Order One). At St Mary’s we provide a creche for small children and a Sunday School for older children. However, children are always welcome to stay with their parents. We also have a children’s corner at the west end of St. Mary’s (on the right in the south aisle) and is particularly useful for safeguarding small children.
On the first Sunday of the month the 10am service at St Mary’s is replaced by an All Age Worship.
The rota at the top of this page shows you where are services are for the forthcoming weeks.
On Sunday evenings at 6.00pm there is usually said Night Prayer at St Mary’s, lasting just fifteen minutes. Sometimes during the year other service formats are used instead of Night Prayer (for example Taize and Iona/Celtic services). Christian Unity, are held at 4.00pm; On these occasions there is no Night Prayer.
All Age Worship
There is an All-Age Worship held on the first Sunday of every month at 10.00am at St Mary’s, this service is geared to families.
These services are organised and primarily led by a lay group. It is usually a lively service which lasts about three quarters of an hour.
On important feast days this service is combined with a short service of Holy Communion.
Every third Sunday of the month, for those in year 6+ we offer Bacon Butties and the Bible. This group which meets in the Choir Vestry is a natural progression from Sunday School. We are looking at the whole of the bible and how it fits together from the Old Testament to the New – we have looked at Genesis over the first couple of months, so there is plenty to go at still! We are working on the piece of artwork which depicts the bible so you can see progress over the months. If you’re interested in coming along just come along to the 10am service at St Mary’s on the third Sunday of each month. We go out at the same time as the Sunday School and aim to be back in the service for the Eucharist.
