April 2008 Update

March will go down in our history as the month of the Auction!  Calm nerves and steady planning (started in Autumn last year) resulted in our biggest fund Raising result to date – around £5,400. Once again, it was a fine example of Team work, with a clear lead given by Mike Bowers, we all had a vision of what was possible, and we DID  IT!

Joy Bowers lead on the catering front, and supported by the “usual suspects” we had an evening to remember followed by a meal to remember! On the day, the preparation began in the spick and span St Mary’s Room kitchen (The Village Hall kitchen is being re-built) and then the food was taken down after the Village Hall was made ready, and didn’t it look good! It was almost a pity to let the people in to spoil it! Then of course the evening “took off” and the rest is history. Many thanks to all who helped, all who made bids, and those who gave the promises. Star of the night was Richard Ullyett who brought his hammer down on a huge sum to add to the Appeal.
