First of all we want to record our grateful thanks for making our dream come true – we broke through the half way point (£50,000) in time for the First Anniversary of the Appeal – a truly amazing result. We are considering writing a book on how we did it – and selling it in aid of the Appeal!  The AGM was a true celebration – as you can see we are grinning like Cheshire cats ! February ended with the Puddings Evening – there’s an article from Liz on the site if you want to know more about that.

The first event in March was to cater for the Mothers Union Dinner and that too was a lovely “family occasion” and made a profit for the Organ Appeal.

The next big fundraiser is the Auction of Promises. Mike Bowers has written about this elsewhere on the site. We really do need you to buy tickets and bring lots of cash along, ready to spend on the amazing items that are on offer. There is a really diverse range of things – 3 different boat trips, help with ironing, Holidays in

the sun – or in a cosy converted barn in Teesdale : a Banquet for 6 with transport and wine included – and a years supply of home made Chocolate Brownies. You just can’t buy these things in the shops ! (And how about a genuine millstone to show off your house name – delivered to your door if you are local to Boston Spa ! ). The Village Hall will be having its new kitchen built at the time of the Auction, and that has given us things to think about but rest assured, the evening will be up to the high standard that we set ourselves!

Meanwhile we have news from the Architects Office:

“Things are progressing very well. We have had a quotation from the glass balustrading manufacturer, which also indicates their time scales for production and installation. I have been in contact with the structural engineer and he has promised to have his final design and calculations to us by Monday next week (10th March). Once we have received his information we can gather everything together and forward it to Roland for him to take it forward”.

Once we have the final figures, we can complete the Faculty application, and once we have that, we can start writing to the Trusts and Grant Making Bodies to ask for their help. Nothing from the FTSE250 as yet …..

FINALLY : if you are intending to make a Gift Aid donation  Please do it now whilst we can recover more tax– the rate drops in April !
