AT  LAST the waiting is nearly over!

Principal Pipe Organs have confirmed that they will be coming as planned on TUESDAY 25th August to dismantle the Organ, prior to our restoration programme.

For a while, some parts of the organ will be stored in the North Aisle – sheeted over to keep it safe. It goes without saying that the parts of the organ stored in the Aisle are precious and fragile, so it’s important that no-one disturbs the carefully stacked and sheeted bits and pieces which,  when re-assembled, will make such a glorious din !

Please resist the temptation to have a peep under the sheeting, and please help children to resist the temptation too!

The following Tuesday, September 1st, Houseman and Falshaw  will be coming to take up the south transept floor to see what’s  underneath it! This is necessary to make sure we have a firm  base for the new floor that will be needed once the Organ has  gone. They will then start building the gallery which will be the  Organ’s new home.

During this time, St Mary’s will be a bit of a building site –  naturally a Danger Area, so do please be careful in this part of  the church too, whilst work is going on.

It seems like waking from a dream, that all this is actually going to happen. We started the Appeal in February 2007, and the events now about to happen seemed so far off and something like a pipe-dream! Thanks to the hard work of so many that dream is now a reality!

We hope to bring you regular progress reports and some pictures  so that you will know what’s happening, and so that people who look at this site all over the Country and the WORLD (YES ! we have many interested people outside Boston Spa) will know where we are up to and what’s happening.

Isn’t it wonderful!

Thanks be to God for this opportunity to bring people together in such a productive way to further the Music in our Worship and our Parish, to the praise, honour and glory of His name.
